Good evening everyone! Hope you all had a good and book-filled week 😀
I thought that for this week, I would look into some book tags (since I’ve heard that they can be loads of fun to do), and I came across one that I thought was quite fitting with what’s been on my mind lately. I’m a huge fan of GoT (Game of Thrones), and I thought it would be fun to see if there was a tag based on this series, and there is! 😀
So without further ado, let’s get to it:
- Arya Stark: a character that’s all about revenge
For this category, I thought I’d choose one of my recent reads, The Empress of a Thousand Skies. One of the main characters is hell-bent on getting revenge on the man that she’s convinced killed her family. More info on this book here and for my book review on this book, click here.
- Varys- A book featuring political intrigue
For this category, I decided to go with the book Switched by Amanda Hocking. The politics of the series gets more detailed in the second and third books, but if you’re ever looking for something new and different from what you normally read, definitely pick this up! More info here.
- Joffrey- A villain you just love to hate
Definitely, have to go with Sebastian from the Mortal Instrument series. Hated his guts and I could not believe the lengths that he went through to make Clary, Jace and the gang miserable. More info on this series here.
- Jon Snow- A coming of age story
I don’t really want to leave it to just one since I know so many, I’ll give two books: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (info here) & Turtles all the Way Down (info here). I have not read the latter yet (but I have it!) but I have heard a lot of good things about it, and the former one is so gritty and raw and just absolutely beautiful. Also, it’s LGBT! :3
- Jaime & Cersei- A ship you just can’t get behind
I would have to say Quentin and Margo from ‘Paper Towns’ by John Green. For the life of me, I could not understand why it ended the way it did. Maybe that was the point of the book, to show that people aren’t perfect and otherworldly and to be put on a pedestal (as was the case with Quentin and Margo), and I completely agree with that notion; I just think that there was always this friction between them, like they’re puzzle pieces that look like they could fit, but don’t. More info on the book here.
- Lady Olenna- A kickass older character
Hans Hubberman from ‘The Book Thief’. His heart is full of gold, as well as his wife, and what they do for Liesel and Max just warms my heart, an also breaks it at the same time <//3. More info here.
- Dany- A book featuring dragons
Obviously, I have to include the Harry Potter series, especially the fourth one in the series ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire‘! More info on the book here.
- Sansa Stark- A character you grew to love
This was a bit of a tricky one for me, but I think I would have to say Manon from the Throne of Glass series. At first, I wasn’t too sure about her, but once I got to see her character develop through the challenges she faced, I definitely hold a soft spot for her. More info here.
- Melisandre- A favorite magic system
If there’s a magical system that I will never fail to love, it’s definitely that of the world of Skulduggery Pleasant. I remember being completely OBSESSED with these books when I was in middle school, and I really need to finish the series! But I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t read it yet, more info here.
- Tyrion- A character whose weapon is their mind
Mara Dyer from the Mara Dyer series, but ESPECIALLY in the third book, ‘The Retribution of Mara Dyer’. It’s such a heart-clutching, gut-wrenching, emotional rollercoaster and the series leaves you questioning your moral compass and your perception of right and wrong. Highly recommend! More info here.
That’s it! 🙂 Thank you for reading, and if you would to try this tag for yourself, feel free!
