September Wrap-Up – Books, Movies, & TV Series

Hello there, friends 😀

Happy October! Can’t believe we’re here, I absolutely adore this month.

That being said, September was a month of getting through and catching up on a number of things, and I thought it would be nice to share & discuss them. Hope you like it! Let’s get started 😀

A Court of Wings and Ruin – a great book, and I’m looking forward to getting the next book when I can! It’s such an epic tale, and I think of anything bad to say about it. I highly suggest starting this series if you love high fantasy! You can read about my thoughts on this book here!

Girl Meets Boy
– A modern re-telling on the classical myth of Iphis and Ianthe, from Ovid’s ‘Metamorphosis’. It touches a lot on the fluidity of gender and same-sex relationships, women’s struggle with their own self-worth, and standing up for what you believe in.

The Phantom Forest
– A good-enough book, but I wish it had more of an effect on me. You can read more of my thoughts on this here.

– My favourite Austen novel, by far! I loved the build-up of the romance between Frederick and Anne, and I always in suspense; I finished it in a weekend, and I have no regrets.

Measure for Measure
– I enjoyed reading this play, actually! The plot was enjoyable, and I loved all the deception and trickery that took place.

Cinderella – I have to mention this movie because I haven’t watched this in years, and I recently re-watched with my mum, and I was starstruck by it. The story is so beautiful, and I loved how it was adapted from the original animation. This is what all adaptations should look like (in my opinion) and I’m saddened that they aren’t.

Avengers: Endgame – I’m so glad that I finally caught up to the Marvel movies!! This movie was so good, and I was so incredibly sad at the end, for obvious reasons. I can’t wait to see what Marvel does next.

Ghost Hunters: Answer the Call – I love how this movie is a bunch of badass women, kicking ghost’s butts, and never giving up. They’re all amazing individually and together, but I will never forget Holtzmann. She was my favourite, and so much fun to watch.

One Punch Man – Yes, it isn’t me unless I mention an anime, and this special mention is none other than this amazing anime, One Punch Man! There are so many things that I loved about this series: the animation, the characters, the world, the importance, and hierarchy of heroes… I could go on and on! I would highly recommend trying this one out.

The 100 – As always, The 100 didn’t fail in delivering an action-packed plot and a spectacular cast filled with morally-grey characters that you can’t help but appreciate, and occasionally cheer on. Can’t wait for the final season!

Designated Survivor – Towards the end, it got a bit darker and more intricate than I was used to, and I actually really enjoyed it. It’s a shame that this is the final season, as I would love to see more of President Kirkman, but it was a very good season over-all.

Money Heist – This season was spectacular!! A more dangerous heist, new members, a less intricate plan, and bitter enemies out for blood… I was hooked.

Disenchantment – I recently caught up with Part 2, and Teabeanie’s adventures and kingdom got so much crazier and more exciting this season, I loved it! A perfect amount of humor, and a plot that never left me unsatisfied. If you like Family Guy and Futurama, you will definitely like this!

What noteworthy books/movies/series have you finished in September? Would you like to see/read any of the ones I suggested? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂
Until next time,
